Ron Acoba of Trading Edge

This will be one of my most anticipated speakers in this 2013 Money Summit and Wealth Expo, Ron Acoba of Trading Edge Consultancy. Being personally a Technical Analysis student, I would love to learn more from Ron Acoba.

Ron Acoba is the Chief Technical Strategist for Trading Edge Consultancy, which conducts stock market seminars for the public. He was formerly an Equity Dealer for Credit Suisse Philippines where he performed daily stock market commentaries, dealt equities for the bank’s institutional clients, and traded forex. Ron was also the former Equity Fund Manager and Head Dealer for BPI Asset Management and Trust Group, where he managed all of the bank’s equity UITFs and mutual funds. As head equity dealer, he traded stocks on a daily basis based technical trends and latest market developments.

Prior to this, Ron was a co-founder, managing partner, and currency analyst for Laid Trades, where he performed daily global macroeconomic and technical analysis and commentaries on the forex market for the website ad. He was also the currency analyst and trader for BabyPips.com LLC, where he did inter-market analysis on the financial markets, investigated different broker platforms, back-tested several mechanical trading systems, and traded currencies online in behalf of the company.

Ron is a Chartered Market Technician (CMT) level 3 candidate and an Affiliate of Market Technicians Association in New York. He has a Master in Business Administration degree from UP Diliman and an AB Economics Major at Ateneo de Manila University.

Upon returning to the United States, he formed his own investment advisory company, administering to the needs of corporations and high-net worth individuals.

Since 1989, he has actively analyzed and traded the Philippine Stock Exchange, making his first stock purchase (and losing trade) buying shares of San Miguel Corporation on Friday, November 24th, one week before the 1989 coup attempt.

John has been a regular Philippine newspaper columnist, writing about the Philippine economy, business, and stock market since 1996. He started writing for the Philippine Daily Inquirer and is currently writing for BusinessMirror, the country’s leading business newspaper.

In 2008, he started providing stock trading advice and recommendations to subscribers of his PSE Strategy Guide and through his website MangunOnMarkets.com.

The one lesson he has learned in more than 30 years of stock trading is that investors must have a trading strategy and then they must trade their plan. John believes that technical analysis is intended to provide us with the price trends of the broad market and also individual issues. More importantly, it helps define price entry and exit points for profits and exit prices when the price trend changes direction.

Hans Brinker Makasiar Sicat has been the Chief Executive Officer and President of Philippine Stock Exchange Inc. since January 12, 2011. Prior to the Philippine Stock Exchange, Mr. Sicat was an Investment Banker for 22 years. He was with the predecessor firms of Citigroup-Salomon Brothers, Salomon Smith Barney and CitiCorp. Investment Bank-based in New York, Hong Kong and Manila. He was involved in a wide range of capital markets and M&A transactions in OECD (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development) and emerging markets.

Mr. Sicat served as the Chairman of the Board of Philippine Stock Exchange Inc. from May 2009 to January 12, 2011. He has been an Independent Director of Philippine Stock Exchange Inc. since May 2009. He served as an Independent Director of Export & Industry Bank Inc. from December 2008 to January 14, 2011. Mr. Sicat holds a Phd in Economics from University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Sicat obtained Master of Arts in Economic and Bachelor of Science in Mathamatics from University of Philippines.
